Visiting St. Stephen
The Gateway to Berkeley County
In 1754, St. Stephens was first settled in what was St. Stephen's Parish that was established in the same year. On July 1, 1812, a U.S. Post Office for the town of Pineville was established at this location, in Charleston District (County) at that time. On April 6, 1866, the town was renamed to St. Stephen's Depot. In 1882, it was now in Berkeley County. On November 28, 1892, the town was renamed to St. Stephen.
